About Us
The Tralee Women's Forum started life in 1986 with the following aims: to identify, acknowledge and celebrate the role of women in society. The Tralee Women's Resource Centre (TWRC) opened in 1995. It carries out the aims and objectives of the forum's mission statement. It provides a service which is dedicated to dealing with women's issues on both an individual and group basis.
The TWRC is a drop in centre funded by the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs. We have a dedicated support worker who is funded by the HSE for Violence against Women. The brief for the centre is to support and inform women of their entitlements, lobby and campaign on issues affecting women while also establishing networks between the existing women's groups in the area.
We are a group of women who have a sincere and earnest desire to support the women in our community. We are an organisation that is in constant development, learning from our colleagues in other community and voluntary organisations, learning from the women who drop in at the centre or write to us and learning through continually upgrading our skills through training and education. We welcome positive input from anyone in our community to enable us to provide the best Resource Centre that we can.
